Kevin, Roshi's koan commentaries.  A koan, pronounced koa- ahn, can be translated as a "public document,"  meaning that it was a teaching tool for instruction, containing the dharma or a truth.  Most of these are from a popular koan collection called:  The Gateless Barrier:  The Wu-me Kuan (Mumonkan) translated by Robert Aitken.
